IUPUI's softball team was swept 3-1 and 7-0 in a doubleheader against South Dakota State over the weekend.

In game one senior pitcher Meaghan Raynes was able to hold SDSU to a slow start by allowing just one run. The Jags grabbed the opportunity to not have a shutout and earned one run made junior Amanda Mackey in the sixth inning.

The SDSU Jackrabbits came back with force and scored two runs off one hit by center fielder Sam Heinzman. SDSU, Jenna Marston, closed out the victory with nine strikeouts and three walks. Jaguar Meaghan Raynes, allowed two hits and struck out three.

In game two SDSU got off to a great start by getting a 3-0 lead in the first two innings against Jag starter Jessica McGowen. SDSU's third baseman, Ashley Durazo went four-for-four and drove in three runs.

IUPUI left runners on base in its first three at bats and was unable to ever get a runner past second base. McGowan allowed three runs and six hits in two innings. As relief for McGown, Lea Corcoran gave up just one run in three innings, while Sierra VanDeKeere gave up three runs in the sixth inning.

The Jags and Jackrabbits faced off again Saturday to finish out the three-game series.

SDSU took another 13-2 victory from IUPUI.

IUPUI started the game off with a 2-0 lead, but SDSU rallied back with 12 runs and 11 hits over five innings. IUPUI's short-lived momentum was started by freshman shortstop Stacy Harte's double and Cayleigh Harvey's sacrifice fly to score Mackey.

Amy Raker pitched for 3.1 innings giving up eight runs while Raynes allowed four runs in her relief for Raker. Marston pitched every inning and struck out five and walked four.

The Jags meet Southern Utah at home, this Friday at 4 p.m.
