FROM EDUARD NIETO

Greetings, everyone!

My name is Eduardo Nieto, and I am running for Undergraduate Student Government president for the 2008-2009 school year!

I am currently a sophomore pursuing a management degree at the Kelley School of Business. IUPUI was my first choice because of the great location and excellent academic background!

As the president for a student organization on campus, I know the frustrations this campus has about not being quite the "traditional" college campus. Well, if elected president, here are some of the things I will address in order to make sure your college experience while at IUPUI becomes enhanced as well as educational and fun!

Food - Have more locations and better quality of food products

Campus Life - Increase attendance to events as well communication of what is going on around campus!

Academics - Create partnerships with companies around the city to offer more internships and work experience, while still attending school

Scholarships - Lower current USG salaries and expand to create more student led position opportunities, granting students the power and ownership for change!

Campus Safety - Work with IUPUI PD for enhanced security and more policemen because 38 for a population of 30,000 is just not enough!

Parking - Tired of those potholes damaging your car? I'll ensure our student activity fees get put to use in the right way!

Campus Spirit - Know our school song? Don't worry, there will be plenty of social opportunities to meet other students and get more Jaguar Spirit!

Student Input - This will be a two-way effort in which YOU get involved and WE get going for change, a change we can take advantage of!

Jaguar Pride - Take ownership of our campus and bring out the Jaguar within us!

These are some of the items I will work on, among others, but most important, your input is what matters most - to enhance your college experience at IUPUI! For any questions, comments and suggestions, feel free to e-mail me at ednieto@iupui.edu. Remember, this coming election, vote for change! Vote Nieto for USG President!

FROM STEVE OETTING

Did You Vote Yet?

By now you have possibly voted, but I would like to remind you that your job is not done yet. To be truly involved, one has to do more than clicking something on usg.iupui.edu. You, as a student, must bolster your choices of USG Executives by actively becoming involved. To be actively involved, a student should be more than an "arm chair leader." You should be the most visible of students on campus, by being the person who joins an existing organization; the person who raises their voice at the Town Hall Meetings; or even by forming your own intramural team.
