George Hill had a sluggish start, missing his first three 3-point attempts.
"I missed the first few shots," Hill said. "I have great teammates to back me up. When I am in a slump, I always have my teammates to back me up. It's the same when they are in a slump I back them up. We all looked out for each other."
Says Coach Hunter about Hill, "He's good. He makes me a better coach. He isn't going to miss a lot of shots. The more aggressive George is, the better the team plays. When he is aggressive, we are one of the better teams in the country."
Even with Hill's slow start the team kept the lead, never letting IPFW take control of the game. During the first half the team scored 22 of their 39 points in the paint and were 15-25 in field goal attempts.
The second half was off to a great start with a dunk by Hill. The biggest lead of the game was 22 points, which happened during the second half with 13:38 left in the game.
Hill led the Jaguars with 33 points, scoring 18 of those during the second half. Two other Jaguars scored double digits with Austin Montgomery scoring 15 points and Jon Avery with 11 points.
Hill and Avery both led the Jaguars in rebounds with five while Hill and Billy Pettiford had five assists.
Hill's 33 points gave him a career total of 1,348, surpassing Brandon Cole's record in Division 1 play.
"Coach kept telling me to keep shooting and it was going to fall," Hill said. "I had my team backing me up saying the same thing."
The team next plays Southern Utah University at the Jungle Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. The team then hosts UMKC Saturday Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
