Having a hard time finding meeting space for an important get-together for your student organization? Is your current space unorganized or even non-existent? Never fear - the Campus Center is here!

More than 220 organizations and 4,000 student members make up IUPUI's student organizations. Out of these 220 organizations, 80 organizations will be chosen to receive a desk space at the new Campus Center.

Student organizations will go through an applications process and then, if selected, their organizations will be granted a year "lease" in the Campus Center area known as The Cube. Any student organization registered or renewed with Campus & Community Life, is in good standing with the University, and turns in the application for a desk on time will be considered for a spot in the Campus Center. The process is already completed for Spring 2008.

"With the Campus Center comes the opportunity for 80 organizations to have offices in one space," said Dr. Frank Ross, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Learning. "The student organization [space] will be the hub of excitement and energy in the Campus Center."

Student organizations get their current spaces for Spring 2008 only. In April 2008, the application process will begin for the 2008-2009 Academic Year. Each organization will be located on the third floor window area.

The organizations will receive a desk similar to the previous ones in the lower level of University College, as well as two chairs. Many desks will also have a tall filing cabinet. Each organization will also have a board on each desk that can be used as a place to hang flyers, meeting minutes or other announcements.

These are large improvements compared to what organizations had in the UC.

"We [had] 30 student organization desks [in the UC] and this will increase our ability to provide desk space to 56 more student organizations," said Sandy Flowers, Coordinator of Student Involvement. "This space will include tables, chairs, easels and lockers for members to hold supplies and files."
