Not everything about the new Campus Center is enclosed in steel and glass. The new facility also includes exterior space for a multitude of uses:
• Concerts
• Speakers
• Demonstrations
• Pick-up games
• Fundraisers
"The patio area around the conference center is really for common use," says Dan Maxwell, Campus Center director.
The space is expected to be used like the lawn in front of University College. The Campus Center developers hope to have students playing pick-up games of Frisbee or kickball, as well as more structured events such as, street fairs or fundraisers. Student-run groups might also have speakers come and give presentations or possibly even public concerts for the IUPUI family to enjoy.
"All of us at IUPUI ideally think of ourselves as students continually learning from each other our colleagues, and above all else our students," says John D. Short, assistant vice chancellor IUPUI. "We would hope that students would bring unlimited energy, creativity and excitement that respects and encourages achievement and distinction for IUPUI. The ideas should be endless and Jagnificent!"
