The IUPUI Jaguars hoped to turn around a two-game losing streak Dec. 5 against Cleveland State, but even though it was a close game all night the Jaguars ended up falling to Cleveland State 60-49.

IUPUI (3-6) was off to a good lead for the first four minutes of the game in The Jungle, but Cleveland State slowly made its way back within a few minutes almost taking over the lead for good. The Jaguars stayed on the heels of the Vikings never losing sight.

Near the end of the first quarter, Brittany Ransom stepped up for the Jaguars, scoring six of the last nine points for the Jaguars and leaving the team trailing by one point going into halftime.

Things turned bad for the Jaguars during the second half when the team only shot 20.8 percent and hit only five of 24 attempts.

Center Julia Whitted scored a career-high 25 points during the game, which she attributes to her size.

Whitted also led the Jaguars in rebounds with 11 while Jernisha Cann had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

"It wasn't as tough for me. The girls weren't as tall as me. They are a good squad. We didn't come with our best night at all," said Whitted.

The team travels to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio Dec. 19. The next home game for the team is Dec. 21 when it takes on Notre Dame in The Jungle at 7 p.m. Many of the IUPUI games are on SummitTV. Check www.iupuijags.com for details
