Some tenants of the new Campus Center thought they would begin moving in today.
But, those plans were postponed last week.
After a meeting with the contractors and architects last Wedneday, Campus Center Director Dan Maxwell said the facility was just not ready for occupancy.
A schedule had been put together for occupants to begin moving this morning and throughout this week.
Maxwell said he believes the earliest moves now can begin would be Dec. 14 but that date is not definite.
He said Barnes & Noble's bookstore will be open Dec. 17 but that access to other parts of the building could be restricted.
The 173,000-square foot, limestone and glass Campus Center is at the southwest corner of University Boulevard and Michigan Street. A $10-million state appropriation will pay for about 20 percent of the project; student activities fee revenue will fund about 39 percent; and revenue from the campus bookstore, copy services, food service and other auxiliary retail enterprises will cover the remaining 41 percent.
