Ghostface, from the Wu-Tang Clan, has released a lot of material over the past year. Many of his fans enjoyed 2006 with releases like "Fishscale" and "More Fish." Ghostface ends the year on a high note with his new release "The Big Doe Rehab."
The first official track of the album entitled "Tony Sigel," is Ghostface rapping over a guitar-driven and bass-filled beat with an unique collaboration with Beanie Sigel. Sigel does nothing for the track lyrically as Ghost outshines his counterpart.
A nice highlight of the album is "Yolanda's House," featuring Wu-Tang Clan members Method Man and Raekwon. This track features a head-knodding beat and superior lyrical performances from each rappper, making this track a flashback to the Wu-Tang's popular days of performing together.
"Big Doe Rehab" is filled with guest appearances from other rappers from the Clan. Ghostface always holds his own lyrically on this album and is never outshined by his Wu-Tang counterparts. He instead works together with them to give his album a look at who each member of the Clan is as a rapper andperformer.
Other highlights of the album include "We Celebrate," "Walk Around," "Yapp City," and "I'll Die for You." Ghostface's album is by far one of his best works if not the best album of 2007 because of the talent and collaboration that was put into it.
An album like this only comes around every few years and Ghostface has a presence that stands out even if some lyrics may be confusing at times because of his rapid style of performing. However, the long time fans of the Wu-Tang understand and feel every word that he has to say. Ghostface has been around since 1993 (as part of the Wu-Tang Clan) and it doesn't seem like he'll be quitting any time soon.
In today's rap game when you're almost 15 years deep in the profession and still putting out classic albums then one will have longevity of many years to come. Let's hope that "Rehab" has inspired Ghostface to keep dropping the same kind of material that he's been releasing all year.
