He has made some solid albums including "The Diary" and "Mr. Scarface is Back," but in the recent wave of rappers emerging, until recently, Scarface has sat back and let the younger generation shine.
This year, Scarface released his 10th solo album, "Made." The first full track, "Never" has pounding bass and meaningful lyrics that flash back to the old school Scarface that fans are accustomed to hearing. The track's subject matter ranges from the code of the streets to poverty and the people that put him down.
Fans aren't used to hearing from Scarface the songs written for women. "Girl You Know" is a different type of sound with new subject matter, but Scarface still brings the great lyricism and delivery fans expect.
Throughout the album, Scarface keeps it relatively simple with the subject matter but still stays true to his roots. Scarface still has the same presence and emotion at age 37 that he had at age 27. Highlights of the album include "The Suicide Note," "Burn," and "Git Out of my Face."
Despite the shortness of the album with only 12 tracks including the intro and outro, Scarface delivers another quality album that should have fans jumping for joy. The good old Geto Boy is back and it seems he will never quit the rap game despite mainstream pressure. He stays true to his roots and background and it works.
