The Jaguars men's soccer team clinched an important win two weeks before the Summit League championships, beating rival Oral Roberts 1-0 at Carroll Stadium Saturday. The team is 4-1 and second in league standings with one game left in the season. Saturday's victory secured a spot for the Jaguars in the four-team Summit League Championships.

With little more than 12 minutes left in period one, IUPUI made its game-winning goal when Vangel Nacovski found a free spot and went for it. This is the sixth goal for Nacovski this season and the 34th of his college career.

The game was another shutout for goalkeeper David Barszczowski, the second of his collegiate career.

"Our back four did a great job today as their (Oral Roberts) front four were hard-charging," said Barszczowski.

Kuntz Stadium in Indianapolis will host the Summit League Championships beginning Nov.16. The team says they hope for lots of crowd support as they play in the league championships.

"We want to see as many fans there as possible cheering us on," said Nacovski.

The team has never won a championship, but they hope for some good breaks to take them to the league title.

"We never had a team be 4-1 before the league championship and our goal is win on Friday (against Indiana University- Purdue University Fort Wayne)," said Coach Steve Franklin. "We won't have the No. 1 seed but there are two kinds of luck, the good and the bad."

The Jaguars end the regular season at home Friday when they take on Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne at Carroll Stadium at 7 p.m.
