It's a dark, creepy night at the Ghostly Grand Hotel, the perfect setting for a haunted house. The hotel has multiple rooms, including a weight room filled with limbs and a quite creative "Stairmaster," a staircase with protruding spikes.
The Ghostly Grand Hotel is a "beginner" haunted house, especially during "friendly hours." Children are given a map of the hotel, and their task is to collect stamps from each room from different witches, ghouls, and even a giant yellow bird.
At the end of the tour, children receive a "prize bag" for collecting each stamp. What's in the bag? Mini soaps, shampoos, and shoe polish from their stay at the hotel, of course. The kids also get to pick a candy treat, and a small toy from a treasure chest.
The Hotel has "Friendly Hours" and "Frightening Hours," so you can choose which one best fits your family. During Friendly Hours, the lights are left on, and the Hotel is more of a fun house, than an actual Haunted house. These hours are meant for small children (ages 5 and under), or children who scare easily. Children have a lot of interaction with the characters in each room, which is a huge step up from last year, when interaction was at a minimum.
During Frightening Hours, the lights are turned off, and ghouls and goblins pop out unexpectedly providing entertainment for older children, or children who dare to be scared.
Overall, it's a fun hotel for families to explore together, and lasts between 15-20 minutes during friendly hours, and around 10-15 minutes during frightening hours.
Tickets for the Haunted House are available at Marsh Supermarkets for $5.50; at the door for $6.50; or online at: www.ChildrensMuseum.org.
Hours of Operation:
"Friendly Hours" 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
"Frightening Hours" 3:30-9 p.m.
